  • Software Development Manager - (Permanent, Full-Time - Vancouver, BC)

    MONKEYMEDIA SOFTWARE is the developer of MONKEY, the #1 cloud platform for takeout, delivery and catering. Serving some of world’s largest brands, with over 8,000 restaurant locations under management, MONKEY unifies functionality to support off-premise operations including order management, customer relationship management, sales management and more. MONKEY is fully compatible with most existing restaurant systems and points-of-sale platforms.

    The company has been in operation since 1998 and needs a Software Development Manager.

    What we are looking for:

    • We are looking for someone to help our development teams (internal and external) execute with quality and predictability every day working with a mixture of monolithic legacy technologies and modern microservice azure technologies.
    • 3+ years experience leading and managing software development teams.
    • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on development experience
    • Experience in developing, deploying, and monitoring enterprise (multi-server, distributed) scale applications.
    • Experience interfacing applications with multiple DBs
    • SQL experience is essential, with MS SQL Server experience a plus.
    • Web Services experience essential.
    • Experience with API development essential.
    • Strong sense of importance to enterprise system reliability (up-time) and scalability.
    • Good understanding of agile software development practices and methodologies.
    • A high standard of engineering practices including Pair Programming, TDD, and Continuous Integration and Deployment.
    • Creative thinker, problem solver with a highly developed attention to detail.
    • Customer-centric focused with an appreciation for the Business.
    • Self starter, motivator, with ability to work in a team environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to effectively communicate by telephone and instant messaging.

     

    What you will be doing:

    • Working as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle.
    • Provide technical and execution leadership and expertise within the organization.
    • Working with local and off-shore teams to best support development and maintenance.
    • Working with System Analysts in translating business requirements into technical specifications.
    • Providing in-production environment support – researching and solving issues.
    • Working hands-on with our teams to ensure day-to-day operational excellence
    • Perform performance evaluations
    • Mentor team members on development practices.
    • Identify the skill gaps on the team and work to train or hire to fill those gaps.
    • Working in a hybrid agile and project based development environment.

     

    Education:

    • University degree is preferred.
    • CSPO certification is an asset but not required.
    • Experience with Aha! and Jira is an asset but not required.

     

    The working environment is a combination of distributed and in-office, the successful candidate will need to reside the Metro Vancouver / lower mainland area of BC in order to attend weekly in-office meetings.
